Last spring, the owners of Cathedral Coffee of St. Johns and I had the opportunity to work on their newly remodeled coffee shop that was opening in Scappoose, Oregon. We were brought into the project when the finishing was set to take place. They desired a new space that was bright, warm and spacious. We worked together on creating interesting uses of color in different areas of the once office building. We curated finishes and wall coverings that would best highlight the stunning geometric elements the designer had set forth and found complimentary color solutions that pulled both the wall mural, brick columns, industrial floor and natural wood elements together. An application of black epoxy resin was pressed into the cracks of the newly installed cut-and-glued plywood wood tops and a high performance clear coat finish was applied lightening up the wood and highlighting the nuance of the plywood texture. Clean neutral whites, a medium-toned gray, matte varnishes and pops of bright and deep colors built a unified approachable, comfortable gathering spot.
The exterior of the building had recently been re-sided which allowed for us to create a new color scheme that echoed similar design elements from the interior. We chose a cool-warm gray for the body with dark pewter columns, chamois white for the trim and pops of deep americana red for the accents. The fir doors on the facade invite customers in to a contemporary yet grounded experience, allowing for the overall feel of the space to feel easy and relaxing to be in while creating comfort and visual interest in each area.
“ Starting a business is stressful enough. When asked to write a review all I could remember is a crazy ton of work to be done and little time to oversee every detail. I left Bryan with little to no instructions on how I wanted things to turn out. How overwhelmingly delighted I was to see the quality of work, the attention to detail and the reliability. Absolutely professional in every way. Always conscious about any cost effective ways I could do things. I honestly felt I had a great partner in starting a new business. Thanks again Bryan, everything turned out beautifully. “
