1909 PORTLAND FOUR-SQUARE
It was a joy to work with the Heeb family on updating their beautiful historic 1909 home. When we initially met last spring, we agreed on a summer start date so we would have adequate time to make color decisions before work would be started. On the initial consultation, Catherine shared with me how they had raised their family in this home and they desired to keep the colors and feel of the house similar, while performing some much needed surface restoration and paint renewal on the exterior. During the process, we carefully and methodically worked to repair, smooth out, tighten up and paint all the loose wood that was in need of attention. We worked together on current color ideas that would best fit to update and compliment the elegancy and stature the house so proudly displayed. To go with the natural greenery that Portland shows off, a new fresh rosemary color for the lap siding was chosen with a marbley white trim, and a dark navy blue for the accents. We understand that working on a big home can be daunting, and are honored to have been able to work alongside the Heeb family as their painter on this project and look forward to work with them again in the future.
“ We couldn’t be happier with our experience of having Bryan and his amazing crew paint our house last summer.
The job had a bunch of challenges: a mix of 100 year old siding and new siding, a crazy assortment of window types, a pretty bad previous paint job to repair and cover up, a brand new color scheme with 4 colors, and a really constrained site.
Bryan faced it all with the utmost professionalism and kindness. From the very beginning, we were informed and knew what to expect. Bryan’s attention to the challenges to start with allowed him to give us a clear, itemized estimate and contract. His preparation kept there from being surprises or up-charges later.
The prep work hit the right balance between too much and too little. During the painting, Bryan checked in regularly when it was unclear which color went where, and had good suggestions for us. The resulting paint was very smooth and clean, with nice crisp edges. We just love it. Everything was put back in its place, shutters rehung, and hardware reinstalled. The clean up was impeccable.
In the end, we felt like Bryan and his crew cared as much about our house as we did. It felt like a great collaboration and a very positive experience. “
